Ray Tracey is an extremely versatile artist.  He not only designs contemporary designs, but also traditional Navajo Old Style jewelry. Ray has a tremendous respect for his ancestors, and his designs and creations with cabochon stones reflect that ancient culture in the context of his contemporary sensibilities. 

Ray Tracey used Kingman Turquoise with the bacelet. The Kingman Mine in northwestern Arizona was one of the largest turquoise mines in NorthAmerica. The mine became famous for its rounded, bright blue nuggets with black matrix. The Kingman nuggets are a magnificent contributor to modern turquoise. 

A cabochon is a gemstone, which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faced. The resulting form is usually a convex top with a flat bottom. Cabochon enhances the beauty of the opaque gemstone.
